One Stat on Social Media and Seniors that Will Blow Your Mind

Believe it or not, senior citizens in the United States are really getting into social media. A full 43% of Americans over the age of 65 have an account on social media, with the majority being on Facebook of course. Compare that with 2010, when only 26% were on a site. Pretty big difference huh?

Of course, seniors still lag behind other age groups, with 60% of 50 to 64-year olds being active on social media, along with 78% of 30 to 49-year olds and 89% of 18 to 29-year olds.

Did you know that today, 43% of US hospitals with more than 400 beds using social media, and that number is just rising.

This is why it’s so important if you’re in the world of healthcare, to be on social media.

Healthcare Companies Need to be Active on Social MediaWhether you’re a nursing home or a medical clinic or an ambulance company, healthcare operators need to be involved on social media so they can tell their own story and get their name out the way they want it to be portrayed.

There are so many doctor review sites on the Internet that allow patients to leave reviews on doctors, but so few ways for doctors to respond and engage their communities.

In addition, the fact is that the people who are researching and making the decision as to where a nursing home patient will go are not in their 70’s and 80’s obviously, it’s their children who are in their 50’s for the most part! They of course are on social media and that’s where every healthcare company needs to be as well.

Having an active social media and engaging your community is so important. It allows you to define yourself and not let outside forces define you.Don’t delay! Get involved today, whether it’s opening a Facebook business page or a Linkedin.

Make Your Body, Make Your Life.
